Even if you've been earning with a website or blog, you may be confused by how the payments work from YouTube because to many's surprise, the way you track estimated earnings is markedly different than when using a website or blog. And the timing for finalized (or verified as payable) earnings is different too, making the process a little more difficult to understand.<br /><br />Included in the confusion is the fact that YouTube will allow you to monetize your videos, <i>even before you have an approved Adsense account</i> (and before you apply!).  At least they used to and I'm not sure if it's still the same. For some unlucky publishers, this fact only becomes clear when they appear in the AdSense help forum wondering how to get their money from YouTube.<br /><br />What isn't clear is that you need to link to an approved AdSense account in order to collect payments, but even worse ... AdSense will NOT pay you for any of the monetization that occurred before you linked your channel to an approved AdSense account. Let's assume you enable monetization for your videos, and apply for Adsense at the same time. Approvals for YouTube applications often occur very quickly, so in a day or two you may receive a notice that your Adsense account was approved.<br /><br />Your estimated earnings will start at that point, but you will not see these in your AdSense account. A few years ago (2013?) AdSense stopped showing estimated earnings from YouTube.<br /><br />To find your estimated earnings from any channel you have monetized, you need to look at the YouTube Analytics page for your channel. Note that if you just began monetizing/linking to Adsense, it may take a week or so for estimated earnings to begin showing on the Analytics page, but they are being recorded there, even if they aren't showing right away.<br /><br />The other thing causing confusion is that some statistics will show on the Performance Reports page in your AdSense account, but things like impressions or RPM without earnings trouble most newbies.<br /><br />To find further clarification on the Payments reports in YouTube, there are several help center articles on YouTube that can help you. If a publisher hasn't yet received their PIN, it's unlikely they'd get it in time for that month's payment cycle. That's another often asked question that echoes through the Adsense forum lately. Some are posted in AdSense, and some are moved to the AdSense forum from the Blogger forum. But all of them <i>nearly always</i> have the same answer, BUT, there are several situations that apply here.<br /><br /><b><span style="color: #3d85c6;">Situation #1 - Applying for a new AdSense Account</span></b><br /><br />When you create a new blog on Blogger and want to apply for AdSense with it, you will probably find the "Earnings Tab" is not active, and you can't submit an application.<br /><br />This is because the blog is either too new, or has too little content to be able to qualify for AdSense, so the ability to apply is on hold (by the Earnings Tab being temporarily disabled) until such time as the maturity of the blog (it's age) and the amount of contents on the blog deem it as being fit to apply with.<br /><br />When the earnings tab is enabled, you'll be able to apply with your blog. This, however, does not mean your blog is approved yet, it just means that you can apply with it. Whether or not the blog is approved will not be decided until it goes through a 2-step approval process.<br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br />The first step allows you to login to an AdSense account and to place the code on your blog. Once you've placed the code on your blog, the second step will begin.<br /><br />The second step is where AdSense will review your blog and all of it's contents to see if it's something suitable for them to monetize. During this time, you won't see any ads on your blog. You won't see any ads unless AdSense approves it during this second step. Nobody knows because there is no information posted about what will cause it to become enabled. Having spent enough time in the AdSense forum you come to the conclusion that it can take several months before that happens. If one thinks about it logically, in a couple of months, how much content would you post? The average blogger probably posts twice a week at least, so two posts a week times 8 weeks equals about 16 posts, but most of the time, what we're seeing is the blogs need more than that in terms of content amounts, unless the posts are very long, so shoot for somewhere around 20 to 30 posts. The more content in each post, the more likely you'd be accepted with a lower number of posts. (Don't add words just for the sake of adding words. The posts have to be useful.)<br /><br />If your blog is almost a few months old, or is a few months old and you have at least that much content, you should be getting pretty close to seeing your Earnings Tab enabled.  Unless ... well there is another requirement that Adsense has for just about all of the Asian countries, and that is the fact that sites should be six months old, so some of you may have to wait longer than a couple of months.<br /><br /><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><b>Situation #2 - Adding a Blogger Blog to a Fully Approved AdSense Account</b></span><br /><br />This occurs when you already have an AdSense account that's approved to display ads on your own websites, or already approved to display ads on Blogger URLs (blogspot URL).<br /><br />Even though your AdSense account is already approved for another blog, your new blog still has to qualify to display ads on it, so ... the earnings tab is disabled, the same as if you were applying for a new blog.<br /><br />This makes sense because no advertiser wants their ads displaying on sites with one post, that's a few hours old. The idea is pretty much the same as in Situation #1 - when your blog is suitable (in terms of age and content amount) the Earnings tab will become active and you can link your blog to your already approved AdSense account.<br /><br />You will not have to go through another review at that time. Your account is already approved, so the ads will begin to show once you can link it to your AdSense account.<br /><br /><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><b>Situation #3 - Your Blog uses a Custom Domain</b></span><br /><br />In some cases, the Earnings tab may not be available when you want to apply because your blog is already using a Custom Domain. In this case, if your site is old enough, and has enough content you can apply at the AdSense homepage with your domain instead. Be aware that if your site is really new and hasn't much content, it's likely to be rejected, even if you can apply.<br /><br />Your account will go through the same 2-step process as noted above in Situation #1. Easy Adsense Approval Through YouTube!

Well, maybe not.<br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br />If you are applying with your YouTube channel so you can use Adsense in other places, like your blog or your website, then you will be disappointed.<br /><br />If you apply through your Channel and are approved, <b><span style="color: blue;">the only place you can use your AdSense is ON YOUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL.</span></b><br /><br />And yes, that's the truth. You cannot run around willy-nilly slapping ads on your blogs or websites.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><b><span style="color: red;">YouTube approved AdSense account are for YouTube only.</span></b></div><br />So, for any of you hoping to get Adsense for your blog or website simply by applying through YouTube ... well you can forget that.<br /><br />In the AdSense forum, we see hundreds of questions (almost every day) asking why ads won't show on their blog or website, when their AdSense account is fully approved. And the reason is exactly what I noted above - they got "fully" approved for a HOST AdSense account for use on YouTube. If you own a website (or a blog with a custom domain), then you can apply through your approved Host AdSense account to upgrade from a Host AdSense account to a Standard Adsense account (one that allows you to use Adsense pretty much anywhere it's allowed).<br /><br />The catch is that in order to submit a request to upgrade your Host account, <b><i>you need a Top Level Domain</i></b>. Like a .com or .net or .something. You cannot apply for the upgrade using a blogspot URL; you cannot apply using a wordpress.com URL; you cannot apply using any subdomain URL. You need your own domain to apply for the upgrade request. IF your upgrade request is approved with your own domain, then you can ALSO use ads on your <i>other</i> blogspot URLs.  Once you've upgraded to a standard AdSense account, you can use your ad code anywhere <b><span style="color: red;">(note: anywhere that complies with policy. Non-complying sites showing your ads can get your account disabled)</span></b><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/2534771?hl=en&ref_topic=2811251&rd=1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Applying for a Host AdSense Account Upgrade</a></span></b></div><br />Got it? Good. That means anyone who actually is wanting ads on their site or blog needs to get it approved - applying for a YouTube Host AdSense account isn't going to make that any easier, or any faster than if you applied straight away just using your blog or website, regardless of what those hundreds and hundreds of "other" blogs out there tell you.<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq"><b><span style="color: blue;">Unsuitable blogs will stay unsuitable blogs, even if you get approved for YouTube. Websites incompatible with Adsense will stay incompatible. If what you actually want to monetize is a blog or website, then apply with one that is something AdSense will actually want to monetize.
