I do want to apologize for stepping outside of my usual decorum when writing for publishers. This post is "as I feel" ... which means a little frustrated (cause, you know, I am human too, just like every other publisher).<br /><br /> Every month it's the same thing, and every month it isn't just new publishers that freak out if their earnings aren't finalized one minute after midnight on the day  the finalizations begin (the first of the month for websites/blogs, and the 11th of the month for YouTube).<br /><br />One minute after midnight ... really people? Have a little patience. Just because last month or the month before you got finalized earnings on a certain day doesn't mean it's going to happen <b><i>EVERY</i></b> month on the same day. Finalizing earnings happens during a time period - "from" and "to" means anytime in between those days.<br /><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br />Getting earnings finalized isn't like getting a paycheque from your employer. Employer's issue paycheques on a schedule, like every Thursday or Friday (weekly), or the last day of every second week, or the 15th and 30th of a month. That's entirely different than what AdSense does. You don't work for AdSense. They aren't your employer, and things don't work the way they do with a real world job. ANYTIME ... regardless of what day you got it last month, or the month before.<br /><br />C'mon people, you're driving us nuts with this stuff. Sure, we like to help people understand things but it's getting a little much. After one or two months of it, you should be understanding how it works.<br /><br />So, no more freak outs because you didn't get it on exactly the day you "normally" do ... there isn't any "normal" day with Adsense and if you use AdSense long enough, you'll eventually (I hope) come to understand that there is very little in the way of "normal".<br /><br />The payment process and timelines are pretty regular, but because they aren't specific days the day it happens (or the date) may not be the exact same all the time, nor will it be the same for all publishers. Even if you've been earning with a website or blog, you may be confused by how the payments work from YouTube because to many's surprise, the way you track estimated earnings is markedly different than when using a website or blog. And the timing for finalized (or verified as payable) earnings is different too, making the process a little more difficult to understand.<br /><br />Included in the confusion is the fact that YouTube will allow you to monetize your videos, <i>even before you have an approved Adsense account</i> (and before you apply!).  At least they used to and I'm not sure if it's still the same. For some unlucky publishers, this fact only becomes clear when they appear in the AdSense help forum wondering how to get their money from YouTube.<br /><br />What isn't clear is that you need to link to an approved AdSense account in order to collect payments, but even worse ... AdSense will NOT pay you for any of the monetization that occurred before you linked your channel to an approved AdSense account. Let's assume you enable monetization for your videos, and apply for Adsense at the same time. Approvals for YouTube applications often occur very quickly, so in a day or two you may receive a notice that your Adsense account was approved.<br /><br />Your estimated earnings will start at that point, but you will not see these in your AdSense account. A few years ago (2013?) AdSense stopped showing estimated earnings from YouTube.<br /><br />To find your estimated earnings from any channel you have monetized, you need to look at the YouTube Analytics page for your channel. Note that if you just began monetizing/linking to Adsense, it may take a week or so for estimated earnings to begin showing on the Analytics page, but they are being recorded there, even if they aren't showing right away.<br /><br />The other thing causing confusion is that some statistics will show on the Performance Reports page in your AdSense account, but things like impressions or RPM without earnings trouble most newbies.<br /><br />To find further clarification on the Payments reports in YouTube, there are several help center articles on YouTube that can help you. If a publisher hasn't yet received their PIN, it's unlikely they'd get it in time for that month's payment cycle.
